Miss Caldwell Goes to Washington

EdelmanI am delighted to announce today that I officially have a job! I’m honored to be joining Mike Krempasky’s team with Edelman in Washington, D.C.

This, no doubt, was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make, as I met SO many amazing people during my job search that I truly admire and respect. I think a big part of it being so difficult just had to do with me being so open about where I wanted to go! I never thought about it before I started my job search, but most people are looking at a specific city (or cities, perhaps) for where they want to work. But me? I had to be difficult. I was honestly interested in moving just about anywhere! Which was a good thing, because it opened me up to so much more, but also a bad thing … because it opened me up to so much more! (lol) But I had the opportunity to meet some really outstanding people, and I’m thankful for that.

SO. It was difficult. But I’m confident in my decision and very much looking forward to working on some interesting and exciting projects with a great group of people at Edelman!

WOW!! Congratulations. I was finally getting a moment to search around the blogosphere and found you and your new job. Working at Edelman I see..hmm, coincidence? ;-)

Steve better grow eyes in the back of his head, as there’s a new PR blogger on the block that’s younger, hungrier and a prolific writer that starts up networking groups to help grow PR and mentoring other students.

Congratulations Erin. Edelman is lucky to have you.

    Erin,
I’m absolutely thrilled! You have given so much, I hope they know all that they’re getting in you – and use it!
Keep thinking happy thoughts for the rest of us! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
    Congrats.

Congratulations, Erin! Your creativity, hard work and willingness to take chances paved the way for all of this. It will take you places at Edelman, and beyond, too.

We are all proud of you. You earned it.

[...] Read about Erin’s great news in her blog: Erin Caldwell’s PRblog » Miss Caldwell Goes to Washington.  Lest we forget, we have other successful students, too. Erin is joining a long list of Auburn grads inside the beltway. Paige Bagby is also headed to Washington. That’s great: forward moving indeed. You’re leaving the Forward project in great shape (and should become a case study example for others). But please pass on the editorship to the next generation – don’t take too much on your shoulders.

    Erin Goes to Washington…

A Marketing Begins At Home tip of the hat to Auburn blogger Erin Caldwell who scored a great opportunity and will be working at Edelman in DC.

Congratulations! When will you be leaving?

  • 13    Erin // Apr 25, 2006 at 2:27 pm

    Wow, thanks you guys!

Jeremy: LOL — Steve needn’t worry. I mean, we’re on the same team now! ;-)

Richard: Thank you! And I am planning to evaluate and probably bring on an assistant editor or two, but for the time being I am staying on as the managing editor. The project is still so young! I just feel it’s wise to keep it under the same leadership until we’re really in the swing of things, at least. Besides, this project is my baby! I can’t give it up just yet!

Michael: I don’t start in D.C. until the beginning of July, so I do have a good month and a half off. (Yay!!)

    Thanks again, everybody!

  • 28    Student PR Joins Thornley Fallis Communications at Student PR Blog // May 12, 2006 at 6:05 am

[...] The thing that intimidates me the most about this little PR adventure is that there really is no blueprint to follow. I can’t point to any other successful students of public relations programs who have taken the big step into the agency world right out of college and succeeded (although I have a feeling I’m not alone in this thinking). That won’t deter me, though. It hadn’t occurred to me until just now, but I hope to be a model for future students in the position I’m in right now. Hopefully they can point to me and feel confident that they can do a good job too. It’s a big responsibility, though: my success will certainly be a deciding factor in hiring future bloggers at Thornley Fallis. It might be a deciding factor for other firms thinking of hiring PR students with blogs. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. [...]
